A public Art Proposal for Square or Pocket Park
Stairs with balcony

Performative sculpture integrated with stairs, (material: stone, concrete, glass, iron. Size. 5x4x2 meters. Model scale. 1.20

A replica of a balcony in Verona, scale 1.1.
Originally a sarcophagus from the 1600th century.

Material: Handmade carved in sandstone. Suspended in a structure of steel beams with a transparent barrier of glass. In winter, the stairs made out of concrete are warm to sit on. Two spotlights illuminate the sculpture at evening and night.

History: The starting point is a loop of historical and mythological fragments which has been retold and appropriated from Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, 1597 until today. The work aims to reflect on the visitors own history and put their personal dramaturgy into the the sculpture Set against the historical myth and the narrative the work becomes a contemporary document, a space for the public to enter and to use as a forma of "Speakers Corner”. I am interested to pose questions and reflect on issues around identity, sexuality and gender.
